Badlands Residency Day 42

Today I worked on prepping some plans for next week's school programs and finished sketching out my next painting so I'll be ready to paint tomorrow.  It was chilly again with rain last night and, as I looked out my window in the morning, some large flakes of snow.  A good day to be working inside, though I would never say no to a hike.  It was Tyler's last night, and he cooked a pasta bake for a few of us that he hung around with while here in Badlands.  We played a couple card games while it was baking, then moved houses and watched a movie, the name of which I have already forgotten.

Snow coming down, not that you can see it here.

An evening shadow self portrait.

Badlands Residency Day 41

I spent much of the day today working on one of the building sketches for the park's design guidelines book, a document being created by the regional NPS office to help park staff understand how to choose renovation/remodel designs that are in compliance with regulations for historic places.  It's all very interesting, and my part is to illustrate some of the buildings/elements that are significant.  There will be a few paintings, as well. After hours laboring over perspective issues on this drawing, I actually took a nap.  A very rare occurrence for me.  Evening was some lawn games and BBQ as we all get ready to bid a fond farewell to ranger Tyler who heads to Alaska for the summer season.
