Badlands Residency Day 2

Another beautiful, cold, and snowy day here in the Badlands.  It was a wonderful day to stay inside, listen to music, and work on updating my website, which now shows all the paintings for my Beyond Boundaries exhibit under the "Badlands" gallery.  Last I checked it was -11 degrees, though at one point I saw it climb as high as -5.  I stood in my doorway to snap a couple photos, then had to wait a good half hour before the heater managed to bring the inside air temp back up to something reasonable.  Glad for all the extra blankets I brought with to pad my paintings on the journey; they're quite handy now.

Badlands Residency Day 1

Snow, wind, and cold.  Yes, it's February in South Dakota.  Feeling thankful that my cross country drive to get here coincided with a small window of good weather that moved with me across the Rockies and plains.  The park closed down today at noon.  It will reopen sometime after the snow eases and the plows can excavate the roads.  I spent today working on images and information for my website and for displays that will be in the visitors center at Badlands National Park at the same time that my exhibit is up at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City.  It is pretty great to be back here once again.
